Google Now
Many of the Google lovers are unaware of “Google Now”. Actually Google now is a smart and intelligent personal assistant developed by Google. This is available inside the Google search mobile app for iOS and Android based cell phones.
Google now utilizes a natural language user interface to solve the queries, make recommendation and complete actions by following the web service request. On the basis of the search habits Google now also supplies information to the users about their desired query (in advance), along with the answering to the asked questions.
Initially it was on 2012 with first android 4.1 version supported by galaxy nexus. It was supported by iOS from April 2013 with an update to Google search app. Google Now shows cards with information taken from user’s Gmail account like restaurant reservations, flight information, package tracking information, hotel reservations etc. further it also involved creating calendar events with voice input. Moreover Google Play Store brought addition of Gmail cards. Also a new voice action aspect included with an update has the ability to post to Google+, recognize song or scanning bar codes options.
Recently added features of Goggle Now are as follows:
- Car rental: Google checks your Gmail account to keep track of reservations, upcoming events, packages and now car rentals. The new car rentals tab will show reservation details and even directions coming back to the dealer inside the Google Now app. Car rental information can be toggled on or off by clicking on the three vertical dots in the right hand bottom corner of the Google Now app and selecting the Settings option. Under settings, go to Gmail cards and choose car rentals box.
- Tickets: The service will automatically display tickets, found from your Gmail account. The display will appear on your device when you arrive at the venue. A second tab will also tell about the famous and upcoming events at the same location (sourced from locally relevant Web sites). This feature can be disabled or enabled by going to the Google Now settings, opening the Gmail cards options, and tapping on the Events box.
- Reminders: Google Now can not only manage old conventional reminders but also includes reminders built directly into Google’s search engine. For eg. typing about a show from either your mobile device or desktop will pop up a reminder about new episodes option. Users can also be reminded about forth-coming events, albums, movies or novels.
- Commute sharing: it is the capability to share location data with your friends and family. It can be used to notify particular Google+ contacts or entire circles about where your traveling journey. Commute sharing can be enabled by going to Google Now settings, opting down to Traffic and clicking “Let them see your commute updates.” You will then have to select who you want to share the data within Google+ circle. In addition to this users can block commuting updates from Google+ friends who have chosen to share their information with them.
The modified Google Now application is available on the Google Play store for devices running Android 4.1 or higher version.
