Hashtags on facebook
After a long wait facebook has added the hashtags support on its service. Under this service users can create hashtags or click on the hashtags created by their friends. Hashtags has long been a very popular social connect style on social media. They are already very popular on Twitter, instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr etc.
For some reason this medium was not available on facebook. Better late than never! While rolling out this service Facebook Greg Lindley mentioned in his post that Hashtags will now be clickable on facebook. Hashtags is an easy way to explain the larger context of the discussion or any topic. Upon clicking the hashtag one can see the buzz around that topic. You can see the feeds of other people on that particular topic of hashtag.
Such hashtags can also be searched through the search bar of facebook. It also provides an option to the user to determine the audience for their post including that of the hashtag.
This is also a vindication of popularity of hashtag in our modern social conservation style. Facebook finally realized it and made it a part of their platform.
