1In ancient time there was an old story about trees and their behavior. Let me tell you the story in brief. There was a king. He had a beautiful, happy kingdom. One day he went for hunting in jungle and he found a treasure there. He brought it to the kingdom. He ordered all his soldiers who went with him on hunting to be quite and not to tell anything to anyone. But this conversation was heard by his hajaam (hair designer). He even ordered hajaam to be quite and not to open the secret. He agreed but soon he started feeling anxiety. He went for bathing to lake. There was a big tree. He went to the tree and told the secret. He felt relaxed. After few days some musicians came to that kingdom. They came to the same lake for rest. They saw that big tree and cut the tree to make musical instrument. The troop went to the king to present their musical art. As they started playing, the secret was out from the music. King was angry and asked about their instruments. They told the story. King ordered to call hajaam. He also told his story. And from there they realized that it was because of tree the secret was disclosed.

In short the aim behind this story was to tell you, that in old times it was said you can speak to trees, they listen to your conversation and react. But this is true after decades. In this technically sound and fascinating social media world, talking to tree can make you feel unusual.

But scientists have conducted experiments and analyzed the effect. The results were surprising and amazing, that plants grew faster, stronger and greener on talking. A US museum decided to put the famous plan to test the effect to social media on plants. They want to analyze the effect of social media on plant’s growth.

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science in Colorado has designed an interactive, unusual, unique in itself type of experiment. In this experiment the people tweet to a plant which is located in a museum. This is done via a project which meant to serve this purpose only. Each and every specific message is then translated into a robotic speech. This speech travels through a speaker and is listened by that plant.

The museum has joined hands with an agency Carmichael Lynch. It’s an organization which concentrates on digital media, public relations etc. to develop a distinctive custom tweet to speech technology. An Arduino device interprets each tweet and read it loudly to one plant. Visitors to official site can exactly hear the technology at work. As a new tweet comes arrives, robot reads it loud.

On the other hand another plant sits in silence in order to help estimate the result clearly. The other plant noticeably sits in silence. The museum will look at the overall development and growth of both plants over the entire course of experiment. They will check the height, color, health, shape and size of plants leaves.  On the 2nd day of experiment of the plant who received tweets was in slight lead that is it was bit taller, larger and greener.

People have till date have tweeted different kinds of messages to the plant. Some of the users have sent lucky messages, some have praised the plant, some have sent encouraging messages and some of them even have sent harsh or unkind messages. The museum is also keeping a record that how many words, characters and messages reach to the plant to carry on the experiment.

Thus some green thinkers and innovators feel that the idea is good for nature lovers and environment. Thus if you are bored of chatting with your social media friends then try something new. Send messages via twitter’s tweet and contribute to the growth and health of plant. So start tweeting and keep growing plant taller and stronger and greener.
